If you want to learn to draw, paint, and create, Urban Arts Studio is the place to go. The instructors are extremely knowledgeable and experienced, and you will not find a more welcoming and peaceful environment to create. Please go check them out!
My kids did art classes the whole week everyday, and absolutely loved it! Beautiful studio, attentive instructors. Sandra was phenomenal in her instructions and dedication. Girls had lots of fun!
Sandra and Fred are inncredibly talented artists and genuinely wonderful people. They are so encouraging, and welcome anyone from any skill level – you feel like a million bucks after spending time here and learn a TON. Highly recommend for anyone, of any age.

Abstract Painting at Urban Art Studio 101
At Urban Art Studio 101, our Abstract Painting class offers a creative space for students of all levels to explore expressive, non-representational art. Instead of focusing on realism or perfection, students are encouraged to experiment freely and develop their own artistic voice.
In this class, students learn the foundations of abstract art, including composition, colour theory, texture, and mixed media techniques. Through guided instruction and hands-on practice, artists explore layering, mark-making, and the emotional impact of colour while building confidence in their creative process.
This class focuses on process over perfection, creating a supportive and inspiring environment where creativity can grow naturally.
The Art Duel: Edmonton Edition
Live painting, skill, and creativity on display — and a chance to bid on original artworks!
Join us on Friday, March 14, 2026, 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM at Urban Art Studio 101 for a unique, sober, focused art experience. Watch talented local artists create live, then place your bids in the silent auction to take home one-of-a-kind artworks.

💕 Valentine’s Paint Night: Two Canvases, One Heart 💕
Celebrate love, connection, and creativity this Valentine’s season with a truly meaningful painting experience.
In this special Valentine’s Paint Night, couples will each paint one canvas, together creating two halves of a single heart. When placed side by side, the canvases unite into one complete artwork — a beautiful symbol of partnership, harmony, and shared moments.

The Canadian Portraiture Legacy 2026
A Call to Artists
Urban Art Studio 101 is proud to announce the inaugural Canadian Portraiture Legacy for 2026, a prestigious national portrait painting competition. This event is more than a competition; it is a celebration of the unique human stories and artistic vision that define our nation. We invite emerging and established artists from across Canada to contribute to this legacy and showcase their talent on a national stage.
The Canadian Portraiture Legacy aims to honor the time-honored tradition of portraiture while embracing the diverse and vibrant artistic practices of today. This is an unparalleled opportunity for artists to gain significant exposure, connect with a national art community, and compete for a coveted prize.
Competition Details
The competition will be structured in two distinct categories to provide a fair platform for all artists:
- Emerging Artists: For artists who are in the early stages of their professional careers.
- Established Artists: For artists with significant experience and recognition in the art world.
Timeline
- Submission Deadline: All entries must be submitted online by May 31, 2026.
- Finalist Notification: Finalists will be notified by June 15, 2026.
- Artwork Delivery: Finalists must deliver their physical artwork to Urban Art Studio 101 by July 15, 2026.

- Established Artists Week: August 15-21, 2026
- Gala & Awards Ceremony: The competition will culminate in an exclusive gala and awards ceremony where winners will be announced and celebrated.
The Canadian Landscape Legacy 2026
A Call to Artists
The Canadian Landscape Legacy 2026 is a national competition celebrating the spirit of Canada’s landscapes. Open to both emerging and established artists, it invites participants to paint live in Edmonton’s River Valley. Submissions close May 31, 2026, with finalists announced June 10. Live sessions run June 15–21 (Emerging) and June 25–30 (Established), followed by a Gala & Awards Ceremony in July. With prizes, exhibitions, and national recognition, this event is your chance to showcase talent and join Canada’s artistic legacy.

We offer two ways to commission a custom portrait:
1️⃣ Portrait Commission
💲 Starting at $800 for a professional, custom-made portrait (includes consultation and the finished artwork).
2️⃣ Interactive Painting Session (optional)
💲 $89 per session if you’d like to paint alongside the artist and learn valuable portrait techniques.
During the painting session, you’ll see your portrait come to life and get hands-on experience in creating your own piece.
Neon Nights: Glow-in-the-Dark Art Extravaganza
$45 per person
- Experience the magic of creating glow-in-the-dark artwork under black lights at our Neon Nights event. This unique and fun-filled evening is perfect for all ages. Let your creativity shine as you paint stunning pieces that come to life in the dark. All materials are provided, just bring your imagination!
- Price: $45 per person
- Session Length: 2 hours
- Description: Includes all painting supplies and glow-in-the-dark paints. Suitable for all ages.
